District Court (المحكمة الجزئية)

The statement of claim is filed in Arabic with the registry of the district court, on A4 paper with 2.5 cm margins, 12 point type and numbered paragraphs. It must carry the court, the date of filing, the names and addresses of the parties, the subject of the claim, the dated facts, the claimant's requests and the signature, with the documents and a schedule of them attached. This set is limited to the simplified district-court track in which the law does not require the signature of a licensed lawyer; a claim of a kind for which the law requires that, or above the value ceiling, is outside this set.

EGP 40,000 — The district court hears civil and commercial claims not exceeding 40,000 Egyptian pounds, and the procedure followed there is simplified. A claim above that figure belongs to the Court of First Instance, where you must check whether the law requires the document to be signed or pursued by a licensed lawyer before you continue. This set does not prepare that track and does not replace a licensed lawyer.

Disclosure: what this document set is and what it does not cover

This set was assembled by a document preparation tool that organises the facts you supplied and aligns the page format to the registration requirements published for the court named on the cover. It is a format-and-fact organisation aid. It does not give legal advice, it does not create an advisory relationship, it does not replace a licensed lawyer, and no lawyer has reviewed your documents. No opinion is offered on the strength of any position or on which rule applies. You remain responsible for the contents of everything you file, for meeting every deadline set by the rules or by the court, and for taking advice from a licensed lawyer about your situation. Every format rule in this set is listed with its source so that you can check it yourself.

I have read this disclosure and I understand that this set is a format-and-fact organisation aid, that it is not legal advice, that no lawyer has reviewed my documents, that the claim is filed in Arabic before the district court, and that claims for which the rules require a licensed lawyer's signature are outside this set.
